This course builds core competency in lean methods, six sigma analyses, and the utilization of the DMAIC to define, measure, analyze, improve and control model to support continuous improvement. Faculty guide students to apply these methods to their own improvement projects. Health systems students will examine the idea of lean-centered care.
Course Format
This course is delivered in on-line, on-line, on-site or blended modules complemented by off-line review and assistance.
Course Goals
Deliver graduate level knowledge of principles and best practices of lean six sigma and the define-measure-analyze-improve-control (DMAIC) model in healthcare.
Course Objectives
- Teach how the elements of lean six sigma and the define-measure-analyze-improve-control (DMAIC) model assist assessment of project results in healthcare
- Explain and demonstrate the skilled calculation of return on investment (ROI) from lean six sigma and the define-measure-analyze-improve-control (DMAIC) model in healthcare
- Discuss systematic applications of lean six sigma and the define-measure-analyze- improve-control (DMAIC) model to improve processes in healthcare
