The course provides the graduate-level framework, knowledge base, and best practices of quality systems management in health system management applications. Students must not only understand the systemic use of quality systems but apply them in a team project that is sponsored and whose success is measured by the improvement of those explicit performance measures. Terminology is expanded to include terms such as tall poles, push and pull systems, and span of control. The skills learned are organization of those metrics in a customer requirements matrix (CRM), process mapping and the calculation of ROI (return on investment) from improvements.
Course Format
This course is delivered in on-line, onsite or blended modules complemented by off-line review and assistance.
Course Goals
Deliver basic knowledge and best practices of Quality Systems Management
Course Objectives
- Teach how the elements of the define-measure-analyze-improve-control (DMAIC) quality system comprise a systemic approach to process improvement health systems.
- Explain and demonstrate the skilled calculation of return on investment (ROI) from improvements in health systems.
- Discuss systematic applications of quality-based applications in health systems-related process maps.
