The AMU Black Belt Certificate is a three month, three course, nine AMU-credit Program which covers core elements of the black belt body of knowledge, and culminates in a shared project which demonstrates practical application of Black Belt knowledge, skills, and competencies. The Program is designed for adults or teams from diverse backgrounds and countries who share a common interest in practical, applied, hands-on learning. Discussion is lively, includes student sharing of their own experiences in class and by contributions to an AMU Community of Practice web page. Topics include Lean thinking, team building, project management, and data gathering and analysis tools. Design of experiments is demonstrated by teams’ use of statapults. Course and project guidance is delivered on line for 90 minutes per week, and one optional, face to face session. Experienced, practitioner faculty cover AMU-original PowerPoints and are available by cell phone, email and text. Materials include Minitab ™.
